Water supplies have now been restored to Penarth, after a burst pipe in Llandough left many homes without water.

Welsh Water has advised that repairs to the pipe at Cogan Pill Road will continue through this evening.

The burst came just ten days after a similar incident at Elizabeth Court, which saw thousands of Penarthians without water and forced many businesses to close.

"As supplies begin to return, some customers may notice a slight discolouration of their tap water," said a spokesperson for Welsh Water.

"This is not unusual after an incident of this nature and should clear within a short period of time."

Vale of Glamorgan councillor for Llandough George Carroll said the second burst main was concerning.

"Residents were very understanding of the burst main last week, but it's concerning the village has again been affected by a similar problem," he said.

"When water supplies were disrupted this morning, I contacted Dwr Cymru, who confirmed an inspector had been sent to the site to rectify the problem.

"It's vital measures are put in place to ensure this disruption does not become a regular issue".

Public toilets in Penarth will remain shut until tomorrow.
