A water mains has burst in Penarth, just ten days after a major breach saw thousands of homes without water and flooding in the town.

Welsh Water confirmed the burst on its network in the Penarth and Llandough area.

Supply is expected to return later this afternoon, although the last burst saw several delays in the repair process.

"We're aware of a burst on our network which is affecting the water supply to this area," said Welsh Water on its website.

"Until the pipe is fixed, you may experience low pressure or no water.

"As a general rule, it should take about five seconds to fill a pint glass from the cold water tap in your kitchen. If you can run your cold ktichen tap, this will also help to clear any discolouration in your supply."

Update:

Repairs are being carried out on Cogan Pill Road, with a small area next to Llandough Primary School flooded.

Workers declined to provide a comment to Nub News but did confirm that the pipe would be fixed this afternoon.

Welsh Water staff and vehicles were also seen on Penlan Road, and at Tesco Superstore, Terra Nova Way.

A lorry carrying supplies of water bottles to be distrubuted to residents for free is expected to arrive at Tesco later today.

Penarth Library has closed, as have many businesses on Windsor Road and in the town centre.

Foxy's Deli in town is once again offering free water to those that need it.
