Nextbikes are returning to Penarth today, two weeks since they were removed for maintenance.

The popular biking scheme has also unveiled a new sponsor – OVO energy.

This means the nextbikes have been turned green for the duration of the three-year deal, with OVO Energy's branding displayed on bikes - which will now be known as OVO bikes.

Bikes from stations at Cosmeston, Penarth Esplanade, Penarth Town Centre, Cardiff Bay Barrage and more were taken off the streets on 20 July to allow the refresh to take place.

To celebrate the return of the full fleet on 3 August, nextbike will be offering free rides on its standard bikes to all customers for the whole week, from August 3 to August 9.

Customers will be able to automatically access this offer, with no special codes needed - they will just need an active account to take advantage.

There are also Green Routes to follow, which takes riders to eco-spots in the Vale of Glamorgan - from zero waste stores to vintage shops.

Full list of Next Bike stations:

• Cosmeston Country Park

• Penarth Esplanade

• Penarth Train Station

• Penarth Town Centre

• Cardiff Bay Barrage

• Llandough Hospital

• Pont Y Werin

• Cardiff Bay International Sports Village
