Dinas Powys Art Group launches its inaugural Art Festival- fun for all ages!

For many years members of the Dinas Powys Art Group have displayed an amazing array of talent at their Annual Exhibition. The group is passionate about inspiring people of all ages to engage with art and enjoy the mindful benefits of painting and creating artworks. It has therefore decided to expand this event into an Art Festival for the local community. The Art Festival will run from Saturday, 9th September to Sunday, 24th September 2023.

Based on the huge success of the 2020 Lockdown trail, we will be kicking off the Art Festival with a Dinas Powys Art Trail, starting on Saturday, 9th September and running for 16 days until the final day of the exhibition on 24th September. This event is a lovely way to enjoy a walk around the village whilst admiring some fantastic artworks. 55 paintings will be displayed along the Art Trail. Each has a special code which can be collected to create an art-related phrase which you can then enter into a prize draw. Why not come along and bring friends and family?

New for this year as part of the festival, some of our artists will be on the Twyn in the centre of Dinas Powys painting local village scenes en plein air. Here, there will also be more artwork on display and an opportunity for you to join in the fun and have a go at painting alongside our artists. No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. What a great way to give art a go! This outside event is running from 11am until 3pm in tandem with our main exhibition on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September.

The headline event, the annual Dinas Powys Art Exhibition will take place on Saturday, 23rd September and Sunday, 24th September. Over 140 original pieces of art will be displayed at the Dinas Powys Parish Hall (Britway Road, CF64 4AF) for you to come and enjoy. Over the past 12 months members of the Art Group have produced an incredibly diverse range of artworks using different media and techniques, all inspired by local and international artists.

A number of paintings will be available to buy at the exhibition and a share of the profits will be donated to our chosen local charities, Dinas Powys Library and Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern.

The exhibition runs from 10am to 4pm on both days. Entrance is £1 per adult, which entitles you to a cup of tea or coffee. Many delicious cakes will also be on sale. Entry for children is free.
