What's On in Penarth this weekend
With such a brilliant array of events organised locally, Nub News has launched a weekly round up of what's on in Penarth each weekend.
Every Thursday we bring you our top picks of the events in our What's On section for the coming weekend.
Events coming up in Penarth
Thursday: Lecture: Twelve Art Days of Christmas
A festive lecture led by Art Historian Morgan Haigh pairing the twelve days of Christmas with some of the greatest works of art from European History.
From milking maids by Vermeer to Hogarthian leaping lords, Renaissance holy doves to nineteenth-century French hens and medieval golden rings, this wide reaching talk will attempt to match great works of art with the often bizarre lyrics of the popular carol revealing their secrets and context along the way.
Ticket includes a glass of mulled wine and mince pie.
Friday: Christmas at Cosmeston
This December, Cosmeston Lakes Country Park will come to life each evening as the Medieval Village and surroundings are transformed into a Christmas Spectacle. Siôn Corn (a.k.a Father Christmas), Siân Corn (Mrs Claus) and their busy elves will be making their last visit to Penarth ahead of Christmas Eve to check the naughty and nice lists before the big day.
Assisted by the elves through an illuminated trail of the traditional buildings and fields around the village with magical special effects, seasonal scenic and musical installations to enjoy along the way, Christmas at Cosmeston has something for the whole family to enjoy at this special time of year.
