Dinas Powys Women's institute are supporting the breast centre appeal which is one of the main appeals of Cardiff and the Vale health charity based in Llandough hospital.

The Breast centre provides patients, with a state-of-the-art gym and a scanning and mammogram kit, also handheld ultrasound for use during surgery, and a senior physiotherapist to provide exercise prescription services offering a pre help and rehab to all.

The centre also outsources swimming sessions for anyone that has gone through breast cancer treatment along with complementery therapies and provision of specialist undergarments for post operative patients.

Secretary Karin Price said: "As a way of supporting this very important and worthwhile appeal DPWI led by president Marylyn Thomas and her band of volunteers decided to do a Calendar girls' type calendar, which was enormous fun and has created a very tight bond between the members who really enjoyed the experience as models.

"Photographs for the calendar were taken by a local photographer Sian Lewis who provided her services free are just fabulous and everyone who has already bought the calendars are highly amused at their content.

"To allow us to reach our maximum audience to launch the sale of the calendars a coffee morning was held locally with so many people attending proved to be a very successful fund raiser for the charity, along with selling calendars in the hospital where the funds are to be donated, which again was effective as it also promoted the works of the WI along with the calendars  all of which we at Dinas Powys are very proud to support."
