Following a successful exhibition at the Pavilion in September, we are delighted to welcome back artist Nick John Rees for a demonstration of marine painting with a festive twist!

Nick has been a professional Marine Artist for 20 years and has been delivering painting and drawing demonstrations throughout the UK, Europe & the US during this time. These are always focused on humour as he believes that a sense of fun is at the root of all things enjoyable.

Through his friendship with Sir Kyffin Williams RA, Nick was encouraged all those years ago to leave his previous career and over lunch at that time on Anglesey Kyffin said 'Nick, paint what you love, and that passion will come through in your work', he said for him it was of course the mountains of North Wales. After considering his advice Nick decided to focus upon his life-long love of the sea.

Whenever possible Nick enjoys painting en plein air to fully absorb the atmosphere, hence his work is spontaneous in nature with much use of the impasto technique employing the palette knife to create strong textures. This gives his work its recognisable tactile & three-dimensional quality. 

Nick will also be bringing along a selection of his paintings and limited edition prints that would make the perfect Christmas gift!

Doors open from 1.30pm with a warming tea/coffee and mince pie to welcome you on arrival.
