South Wales Police in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan have removed their critical incident report; the yellow weather warning for rain from the Met Office has now passed; and, the sun has made a brief appearance in Penarth this morning.
It's been a turbulent couple of weeks for the town and the wider area with Storm Ciara, Dennis and Jorge taking their hits. However, a glimmer of sunshine was seen today and the rain is predicted to ease away despite yellow wind warnings remaining in place.
Trains to and from Penarth stations have also started running again.
South Wales Police said: ''The critical incident declared following flooding and severe weather-related incidents have now been stood down.
''Please be reassured that agencies continue to work together and everything is still being done to ensure the safety of the public and emergency services are coping with the pressure placed upon them.
''The situation will be monitored throughout the day, and agencies remain prepared if further issues arise.
Advice for people in affected areas:
• Remain indoors, unless your journey is absolutely necessary.• Steer well clear of dangers such as waterways.
• In an emergency, dial 999 – let highly skilled emergency service and rescue staff deal with incidents safely.• Monitor local media and social media accounts for relevant organisations for updates.
Sully Village was one of the worst affected areas during the storm. Hayes Road still remains closed with vehicles stranded and the recycling centre shut.
