Waverley's Paddles Turn for the First Time Since 2018
As part of the commissioning process for the new boilers, Waverley's engine and paddles have turned under steam marking a monumental point in the boiler refit. Waverley is back in steam for the first time since 2018.
The Waverly Excursion said: "We are extremely grateful to all those who donated to the Boiler Refit Appeal and helped Save the Waverley.
"We will make a further announcement on whether Waverley will be able to operate and carry passengers soon.
"If we can return her to service in 2020 it will be for a short period of cruises operating on the Clyde only."
This means, unfortunately, Penarth will not see the return of the historic paddle steamer this year but, hopefully, it won't be too far in the future.
There is still much work to complete before Waverley can undertake sea trials.
Further updates will follow on whether Waverley will be able to carry passengers this year.

The popular paddle steamer stopped its excursions in 2018 due to a number of pricy mechanical problems.
It was the first time the boat had stopped its trips for 45 years and as the world's last sea-going paddle steamer, it was unsurprising that this was met with resistance.
The Boiler Refit Appeal was launched to raise £2.3m and Save The Waverley. The appeal attracted donations from over 8,500 individuals with support from the PSPS, Scottish Government, several trusts and foundations
