Fireworks night is back with a bang this year at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club.

For the first time in three years the Rectory Road club is throwing open its doors for a public Guy Fawkes celebration.

Club chairman Martin Radford said: "It's great to bring the public event back after the Covid break. It's always been a really popular fixture in Penarth's calendar, and we're looking forward to welcoming the crowds back on Friday, 4 November."

Before the pandemic the club regularly welcomed up to 1,000 people to the site for the bonfire night event.

The evening will include the club's trademark spectacular firework display, along with a large bonfire. There will be a number of bars onsite to cater for the crowds and hot food from Ring-a-Roast. Willmore's will be serving hot drinks and there will be a mulled wine stall raising money for the club's charity, Velindre.

Event co-ordinator Al Cozens said the club had been buying up some impressive fireworks for the event.

"We have always laid on an amazing firework display and we are determined to keep up the standards this year. Hopefully it will be one to remember!" he said.

The club ran a slimmed down bonfire night event last year for members only. But this year is the first time since covid that the event will be open for the public.

Tickets for the display go on sale to non-members on Friday, 14 October priced £5. Under-16s pay just £3 and under-3s are free. The event is ticket only and ticket numbers are strictly limited for safety reasons. Doors open at 6pm.

Tickets are available at the club's Ticket Source page via this link.
