The second phase of a consultation to help shape Penarth Esplanade is now underway.

In August the Vale of Glamorgan Council started asking people for their views on the future of the prom. Individuals were able to share thoughts online or on large ideas boards located at Penarth Pavilion.

After canvassing initial opinions, the Council is now seeking views around specific themes that were raised.

Broadly, these relate to transport, public realm improvements and arrangements around hospitality.

A new consultation survey focusing on these themes will soon launch on the Council website. In person engagement events are also being planned, with further detail to be publicised in the coming weeks.

Once responses have been analysed, the Council will consider future plans for the esplanade.

Council leader Cllr Lis Burnett said: "There has already been significant improvement work carried out around the esplanade, with the Council investing heavily in the Pier Pavilion in particular.

"We are aware of how important this location is to residents and visitors to Penarth, which is why we have launched such a comprehensive engagement exercise to properly understand those views.

"People have shared their feelings on a broad range of matters. These have been reviewed and used to shape this new survey."That is the next stage of the engagement process as we work to understand what people want from this location.

"Ultimately, the information gathered will help influence how this area looks and feels in future."
