The family behind Pickford's Galley and Bar in Penarth have been raising money to feed those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new business had only been trading for 7 weeks when COVID-19 hit the UK.

But they weren't going to let that stop them. Huw Pickford and his wife Jeanne have taken their spare time and resources to start cooking for those in need.

Inspired by the work of James Sommerin and Willmore's, on April 3rd they delivered 100 meals to Llandough and 21 meals to elderly people in Barry.

They said: ''We have supported you, you have supported us, now it's time to support our NHS.

''Our suppliers donated us all the ingredients we needed to make the lovely NHS team at Llandough Hospital some hearty meals.''

However, the team doesn't want to stop there. They have now set up a Go Fund Me page to encourage residents to help them continue doing this work.

They said: ''Being part of the great Community of Penarth, we as a team want to support people that really need help in these uncertain times.

''We have so far been able to cook and deliver hundreds of meals to various places.

''However, being such a new business, it is not possible for us to continue our charitable work without any support.

''We are hoping for donations so we can buy, prepare and deliver snacks, meals and cakes to front line workers, care homes, and anyone that maybe have fallen on hard times due to the pandemic.

''We will not personally benefit from any of the donations.

''We haven't really got a particular place that we will be donating food too, but it will include Llandough Hospital and Marie Curie.

''Also other suggestions from people that know of places or people that are suffering from this.''

You can view their fundraising page here.

The restaurant will also start up their Sunday Roasts again from this weekend, available as takeaway and delivery.

The Pickford's have replaced the interior of the outdated Beach House hotel and have breathed new life into the building.
