Halloween turned out to be darker than expected for residents in parts of Penarth last night (Monday, 31 October).

Some parts of the town were subject to power outages which left homes and businesses blacked out.

The outages began around 6pm and was immediately acknowledged by National Grid on their website, with a message saying: "We are sorry about the power cut in Penarth affecting CF64 and surrounding areas. Engineers are working to have all properties back on by 7pm."

In fact it took much longer than that, it wasn't until around 10pm that the compnay was able to announce: "We're pleased to say that all power supplies to Penarth CF64 area are restored. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

Meanwhile National Grid has warned there may be more troubles ahead with a weather alert. The compnay says: "We are expecting some wet and windy weather across our South West and South Wales regions across Wednesday and into Thursday. Whatever the weather, we can work to restore power supplies quickly and safely for you."
