Unity and support among community groups in Penarth was illustrated this week when one group literally gave shelter to another.

Benthyg Penarth is a library of things that can be borrowed, based at 'The Garage' at The Kymin on Beach Road, Penarth.

When organisers heard voilunters for the local Poppy Appeal were in need, it came up with an answer.

A spokesperson for the library said: "We love it when we can help out other groups.

"Penarth Poppy Appeal for the Royal British legion needed a gazebo to help keep their volunteers staffing their iconic caravan stand in Penarth Town Centre dry, we answered their call.

"We had one available so have loaned it to them for the duration of the appeal (and look, it's even blue).

"Hopefully they'll get lots of visitors and supporter over the next couple of weeks, whatever the weather.

"Please visit them to show your support to them and their cause."

The Poppy Appeal volunteers are set up outside the St Fagan pub on Glebe Street.
