Bonfire Night celebrations at Penarth Lawn Tennis club have completely sold out with 1,000 people expected to gather at the site for the festivities.

A club spokesperson said there would be no tickets at the door and no entry without a ticket.

"The tickets were gone within a week or so of going on public sale," said spokesperson Nick Skinner.

"We had to limit sales to 1,000 tickets for safety reasons but probably could have sold out twice over. It is disappointing to turn people away but we are a relatively small site and that is all we can safely accommodate for a fireworks display.

"We really want to get the message out that if you turn up without a ticket you won't get in. We don't want to be turning away families at the door on the night."

Friday November 4 sees the first public fireworks and bonfire night at the club since the pandemic. For those lucky enough to get a ticket there will be bars, hot food and a mulled wine stall. Doors open at 6pm
