Heather Rowan-Robinson had almost completed an assessment that (if passed) would see her become a full RNLI Penarth crew member when they received the call.

A local fishing boat had broken down, and the RNLI was needed to tow it back to shore.

Without missing a beat, Heather jumped from assessment mode into the action and assisted the team in towing the stranded vessel back to Cardiff Bay.

A testament to her calmness in a crisis, Heather then returned to her assessment and passed with flying colours. The RNLI then presented her RNLI crew sweater, the lifeboat institution's proverbial coat of arms.

A spokesperson from Penarth RNLI commented:

"Heather will soon be training as a firefighter, but we're delighted to say she'll be oncall when she's back in Penarth! Well done from us all."

In a Facebook post, Heather expressed her delight:

"Very chuffed to pass out as full crew last night- thanks to my lifeboat family for helping me get through!"
