Volunteers at RNLI Penarth responded to a late-night call on Saturday, August 6 to rescue three people from a broken-down fishing vessel.

The crew were paged at 23:05 to help bring the vessel from Sully Island back to land after the engine had failed.

A Facebook post from RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station on August 7 said: "Our volunteer crew were paged at 23:05 last night to assist a 31ft fishing vessel with three people on board.

"The vessel had engine failure and was located south of Sully Island. The vessel was towed into Cardiff Bay where it could undergo repairs, and the lifeboat returned to station where it was washed down and made ready for service."
