Penarthians may have spotted Puma helicopters in the skies today as they conducted essential training in the nearby area.

RAF Benson said: ''Puma helicopters will be operating in the Cardiff and Hereford areas today to conduct essential training for the crews.

''They will be using a number of authorised landing sites in the areas throughout the afternoon and late into the evening and may be operating at low level on occasion.

''While the aircraft will have guns fitted in the doors, this is solely for training purposes and they will not be carrying any rounds.''
