Pickford's in Penarth Look to Extend Licensing as They Return to a New Normal

The Pickford's Galley and Bar on Penarth's Esplanade have applied to the licensing department to extend their opening hours, alcohol sales and functions.

Mr Pickford told Nub News: ''As time moves on we are changing and adapting again, we are in talks with the council to extend our license hours so we can cater more for weddings and functions, as we are trying to go back to a restaurant, bar and private hire, and move away from the takeaway, going back to how we intended before lockdown."

The business has been serving takeaway food and drinks whilst indoor dining was unavailable to them.

They have ensured that litter picking became a regular close down activity for them as a business as they did not want the effects of this to spill onto the Esplanade and beach.

Since reopening fully, the restaurant is offering 50% off as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme for people dining in. They have also installed outdoor decking so that they continue to serve outside.

Last weekend they reached a major milestone, celebrating six months since their opening. They said: "We have had one huge rollercoaster of a ride as we reach 6 months of opening. We have had amazing support from our regulars and locals along with great support and guidance from our local police and council.

"We as a family, and a team, cannot thank you enough as we continue to adapt and grow our business."
