Penarthian Rhys Jenkins has completed the Wales Coast Path beating the world record for the quickest time and ascending a height more than four times that of Mount Everest.
The 33-year-old ran from Chester in North Wales to Chepstow in South Wales. He completed this mammoth challenge in 20 days 10hrs and 38mins, beating the previous record by 2hrs 17mins.
In a tribute to his wife and Ultrarunning partner Cerys, Rhys said: "The reason I'm stilling standing after 870 miles of the Wales Coast Path. My rock. My inspiration. My why. Cerys Jones this is as much your record as it is mine!"
Rhys and his wife Cerys Jenkins are the co-creators of Pegasus Ultra Running. They've spent the last decade running and organising challenges around the globe.
Rhys is a seasoned ultramarathon fanatic having spent the last decade compiling an impressive repertoire of race completions.
Mr Jenkins raised over £4,500 for charity through his Just Giving page.
He said: "I ran the Wales Coast Path for the CF Warriors, NSPCC and Maggie's - three charities that are extremely close and personal to myself, my wife and my mum."
The previous record was held by James Harcombe, who ran 20 days 12 hours and 55 minutes in 2017.
He made a statement in support of the fantastic achievement on Facebook. He said: ''So Rhys did it this morning (NZ time)! No doubt battling the demons that raise their heads in these sort of endeavours, and raising money for 3 great causes along the way. In these tough times, any amount of support for his chosen charities would be greatly appreciated. Well played Rhys."
