Penarth RNLI's Fourth Friday Callout to Group of Eight Stuck on Sully Island

The RNLI in Penarth was called out on four occasions across Friday including a ballot seven people and a child from Sully Island.

The first two tasks were to a broken down yacht followed by a smoking boat.

A yacht then found itself in trouble as it got stuck in the mud but after some assistance were able to wait for the tide.

The fourth task of the day was to seven people and a child cutoff by tide at Sully Island.

Penarth Coastguard who were also tasked to the scene tweeted: "RNLI Penarth launched to assist and check on the welfare of those on the island.

"After conversation and physical checks all person were content to remain on the island until the causeway opens."

Lifeboat Operation manager for Penarth's RNLI, Jason Dunlop, said: "An incredible effort by the team of Penarth RNLI. Four shouts today. A missing yacht, smoking boat, yacht aground and persons cut off by the tide. With the weather getting hotter please be careful."
