Local couple Jeanne and Huw Pickford have recently taken over the Beach House Hotel and are currently in the process of renovating the property before opening to the public.

The Pickford's had previously run the Galley restaurant at Penarth Yacht Club.

The pair had previously set their sights set on the Crazy Cafe but found a better fit at the hotel, which they have since rebranded as the ''Pickford's at the Beach House Hotel''.

The site is currently closed and being refitted. They hope to get the bar and restaurant open by the end of January, with the hotel following a few weeks after.

Huw Pickford said: ''Our restaurant, which was previously called

The galley at Penarth yacht club, has been voted not only as one of the best Sunday lunches in the area but also was in the top 20 best restaurants in Wales a year ago.

''You can expect the same quality of food and service just under a new name and location.''

Over 7 days of the week the new business will serve breakfast from 8:30am, including a full Welsh breakfast and Eggs Benedict. Lunch will also be available from 11.30 until 3.30 with some classic favourites.

Sunday lunches will be available from 11:30 am until 5pm and Friday and Saturday evening meals will be serving some great classics, fish and grills.
