A Penarth based duo have picked up the 'Export Business of the Year' award for their business Brite Angle at the Welsh SME business awards 2019.

Penarth residents and husband and wife, Stephen Wornham and Carol Gillanders run the Cardiff based company.

Brite Angle championed over five other nominees in their category.

The Welsh SME Business Awards ceremony is a celebration of the entrepreneurs and thriving businesses that service all industries across Wales.

It celebrated the tenacity of individuals with enough grit and business acumen to drive their businesses to success in often challenging sectors.

The Commercial Director for Brite Angle, Carol Gillanders, said: "We're thrilled to have picked up this award for Export Business of the Year.

''We are a Welsh-based business – we design, test and manufacture our products in Wales, and we're passionate about contributing to the Welsh economy and taking our products to the international market.

''We love helping to showcase all that Wales and Welsh businesses can offer, so to be recognised for our contribution to exporting in Wales means a lot to us.

"Since launching the BriteAngle LED Warning Triangle, we have developed relationships with distributors in Iceland, Norway, Mexico, Germany, Sweden and Denmark – with our product selling in many more countries across the world.

''We're particularly excited about our most recent partnership with Australian distributor, Dometic.

''What a year this has been and we can't wait to see what 2020 has in store."

Organisers of the event, Creative Oceanic, have delivered award ceremonies for nearly a decade in cities around the world.

The CEO of Creative Oceanic, Irfan Younis, said: "Congratulations to all winners and finalists of the 2nd Welsh SME Business Awards. We salute you for all you do to create jobs, service your industry and the Welsh economy. We're excited to see how the SME campaign evolves over coming years."

The event was held on Wednesday 30th October at the Exchange Hotel in Cardiff.

The Welsh SME Business Awards were a celebration of the SME entrepreneurs and thriving businesses that service all industries across Wales.
