The general election candidates have been confirmed for the Penarth and Cardiff South Area.

Six candidates will run for the election in the hope of gaining a seat for the constituency.

Stephen Doughty, who has been the MP for Penarth and Cardiff South since 2012, will be running again and represents the Labour party.

Nasir Adam will be standing for Plaid Cymru. He is the first Somali Plaid Cymru Candidate in Wales, a local community campaigner.

Dan Schmeising will be running for the Liberal Democrats as the youngest candidate in the group. He is the chair for the UK young Liberals group.

Ken Barker will be running for the Green Party candidate for the area.

Philippa Ann Broom is the Conservative and Unionist Party candidate.

Tim Price will also be running as the Brexit party candidate.

The Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and the Green Party candidates have not taken part in the ''Unite to Remain'' pact created by the three parties to maximise the Remain vote and ensure a strong anti-Brexit voice at Westminster.

The election will be held on the 12th of December 2019.
