Roald Dahl's BFG exhibition coming to Turner House
The Turner House welcomes Roald Dahl's iconic and much-loved fictional character, The Big Friendly Giant, as part of the touring exhibition The BFG in Pictures, curated by Quentin Blake.
The exhibition, curated by Quentin Blake, contains 40 reproductions including illustrations not used when the book was first published in 1982.
They chart the development of one of the most iconic characters in children's literature and a glimpse of a BFG that might have been.
Local lady starts crowdfunding campaign for Alexandra Park rose bushes
Resident Barbro Perkins has launched a crowdfunding campaign to replace the run-down rosebed opposite the Alexandra Park War Memorial.
She hopes to raise £1,000 to purchase 80 new rose bushes, urging 100 flower-loving locals to donate £10 each to the cause.
This comes four months after Swedish-born Barbro spent £400 of her own money to replant the bed adjacent to the steps that lead up to the Memorial.
Work begins on lottery-funded Victoria Square project
Volunteers from the community group Friends of Victoria Square have commenced work on a lottery-funded project that aims to rejuvenate the area for people and wildlife.
Over the Easter weekend, almost a dozen ecologically-minded residents set about planting trees and excavating soil to establish a bog garden.

Disposable BBQs blight Cosmeston benches yet again
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has posted photos of a Cosmeston Lakes Country Park public table damaged by what appears to be a disposable barbeque.
BBQ-burnt benches are an ongoing problem for the Council and park visitors alike. A similar photo was posted just under two weeks ago (2 April).

Contractors (Three Squires) hired by Network Rail will this afternoon finish re-fencing the area between Railway Terrace and the train tracks after finally commencing the project yesterday.
They are removing a rusted, four-foot tall mesh fence and replacing it with six-foot industrial palisade fencing. The current fencing falls short of safety standards due to its proximity to both the road and the railway.
