Here are six stories you might have missed from Penarth this week…
How post-war Penarth prepared this family for the Texas freeze
Geoffrey Mules was born on Glebe Street in 1946.
No one could have predicted that 75 years later he would be just outside Houston, Texas, close to freezing in the middle of a pandemic.
But that's exactly what he and his wife Annette (born on Salop Street a year later) are doing.
Pier Pavilion will continue to be a "community facility" vows Vale of Glamorgan Council
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has committed to securing the future of Penarth Pier Pavilion as a community facility following the news that Penarth Arts & Crafts Ltd (PACL) have surrendered the lease on the building.
Prior to Christmas, the Vale of Glamorgan Council commenced discussions with PACL and National Lottery organisations to ensure the building remains available for the people of Penarth and the wider Vale of Glamorgan.
Those discussions have now been completed and the Council will now take over the operations of the Pavilion.
It has assured that it will honour all existing event bookings where deposits were paid in good faith and would otherwise have been lost.
Women shave their heads for breast cancer charity
Two Penarth women have shaved their heads to raise money for the breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel.
They have currently raised over £2,000 for the organisation, which encourages and reminds women to check their breasts for cancer.
Naomi Burke, founder of the Penarth macramé business The Loop Knot, says watching an interview with the charity's founder inspired her to take the plunge.

OPINION: Stop the sprawling Belle Vue Pavilion redevelopment
At the end of Planet of The Apes, Charlton Heston cries "You finally really did it! You maniacs!" A similar thought went through my mind yesterday morning when I saw Vale of Glamorgan Council planning officials pegging out the footprint of the new £1.2million building they are planning to replace the historic pavilion in Belle Vue Park. They agreed to my request to mark out the area in yellow paint and I would highly recommend paying a visit before the next rainfall washes it away. introduces one of very first window donation card readersRNLI Penarth has become one of the very first stations to introduce one of the "brand new" 'Tap To Save Lives' card readers.
Passersby on the Esplanade are now able to donate £3 by simply pressing their card against the contactless reader and thereby help the charity save lives at sea.
