Handymen UK thank Penarth residents for their support

James Squire-Wood, manager of Handymen UK, pens a thank you letter to Penarth after a strange week.

His company has been accused of gender discrimination, featured in the national press, and ultimately been awarded the £1,000 grant they requested.

A strange week indeed.

Brod - The Danish bakery donates excess goodies to NHS Covid testers

Since the new year, the Glebe Street Danish bakery Brod has been donating excess bread and pastries to staff at NHS testing facilities.

Although immensely popular, the Penarth branch was searching for a good cause to receive its unsold items at the end of the day when Stol Coffee's Piotr Skoczylas suggested Daniel Wooles.

Penarth Healthcare Partnership commits to ambitious over-75 vaccination target

The Penarth Healthcare Partnership (PHP) on Stanwell Road aims to have all patients over-75s vaccinated by 15 February, providing supply chains continue.

Staff at the practice are working extra hours to meet this target set by the Welsh Government.

Where have the Penarth 'welcome' signs gone?

Some of you eagle-eyed essential commuters were shocked to discover the disappearance of Penarth's welcome signage.

Well, never fear...

Penarth Town Council are behind this one, removing the signs from their posts in order to administer a touch of TLC.

Planning application submitted for 133-home Penarth Road development

A planning proposal to build up to 133 dwellings on the greenfield site just off Penarth Road has been submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The site was allocated for development in 2017 as part of the Vale of Glamorgan's Local Development Plan, which referred to the location as a "greenfield site".

ShopAppy Penarth goes live! First traders active

Six independent traders are now live on ShopAppy, a service that essentially brings a mini-Amazon for independents to Penarth.

Foxy's Deli and Cafe, Glass By Design, Apothecary 64, Penarth Gin, Willmore's 1938 and Allen Sadler Hair Studio are the first of the 22 business who have enrolled to feature on the site.
