Some face covering rules are being relaxed at hospitals in Cardiff and the Vale. 

In a statement published today (August 10) by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CVUHB), the organisation says staff members and visitors are no longer required to wear face coverings in non-clinical areas, such as coffee shops and corridors, and it is now up to the individual to make this choice. 

But staff will continue to wear coverings when delivering care to patients in clinical settings. Staff are also "strongly encouraged" to wear face coverings in all clinical settings to protect those who are vulnerable.  

A spokesperson for the CVUHB said: "The prevalence of COVID-19 in our community is currently falling.  

"The Health Board has reviewed the current situation in our hospitals and is relaxing some of the requirements to wear face coverings across our sites. 

"We will continue to review our approach based on the current evidence as we head into winter. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation."
