Penarth Coastguards traded in the seaside for city sites and parks as they aided the police with safety advice patrols across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan this weekend.

They were joined by the Barry Coastguard team and carried out five days of patrols over the long Easter Bank Holiday.

They were tasked with assisting South Wales Police: Heddlu De Cymru in covering Cardiff Bay, the Barrage, Penarth Marina, Roath Park and Rec, Blackweir, Victoria Park, Heath Park and Hamadryads Park.

Coastguard teams all over the UK responded to requests to help them patrol their area over the Easter weekend.

They said: ''We hope the vast majority of people will be adhering to the government advice of Stay Home and Save Lives. Help the NHS.''
