Images of disposable gloves and masks littered on the streets have been captured across Penarth over the long Easter weekend.
A local NHS worker and resident posted images online after she found a number of disposable gloves scattered around during her walk of the day on Saturday.
Imogen Williams said: ''I work for the NHS and I've been working in UHW and Llandough hospitals and next week I start in the stadium so have a fair idea of what's going on in the hospitals at the moment.
''Safe to say everyone is working their socks off and local support have been quite unbelievable and I am very grateful for that.
''However, I have just taken a walk with my little one in his pram from our house in Llandough and have come across at least half a dozen plastic gloves discarded on the ground in various places.
''This. Is. Not. Ok.
''If you insist on using gloves then dispose of them properly. Or even better, save the environment and don't wear gloves at all and wash your hands.
''Coronavirus will sit happily on your gloves and people wash their hands less when they are wearing gloves and touch everything thinking they are protected when actually you are passing the virus from surface to surface. Just wash your hands.
''This post is aimed at the small minority and I'm sorry to rant to everyone when on my walk I also saw dozens of rainbow pictures and supportive messages in peoples windows.
''Please don't make our jobs harder. Bin your gloves.''
Other residents have also posted on Facebook to remark on the unpleasant nature of finding these items littered around Penarth.
With all but essential travel banned and people spending much more time in their homes, pollution has dropped significantly across the UK.
Littering, especially with potentially contaminated items, is a counterproductive action during these difficult times.
The debate over the usefulness of gloves and masks in the fight against coronavirus has been a key point of discussion in the news.
Medical advice states that they should only be used if they are going to be used properly and safely.
Namely, NHS workers are the only people that are being advised to wear this protective gear.
Otherwise, they provide no additional protection.
