With Cardiff Arms Park currently being used by the NHS during the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak, Penarth-based sportswear company, Iguana Apparel, have donated 450 face masks to Cardiff Blues.

The home of Cardiff Blues is currently being utilised as part of Ysbyty Calon y Ddraig - Dragon's Heart Hospital.

With this in mind, Iguana Apparel got in touch and offered their assistance by providing 450 crucial face masks to improve protection on sight.

Co-founder Kieran Spear said: "We're a Penarth-based sportswear company, and our work is primarily in rugby. We do kits for a lot of local rugby clubs like Penarth, Dinas Powys, Old Penarthians, Barry and CIACs.

"But our work has come to a stop at the moment, so we managed to source some masks.

"We knew the Blues were doing stuff to help the NHS so we dropped some off to them.

"We've seen someone else from the sporting sector helping the front line so we got in touch with Rhys Blumberg, who made sure with the NHS that they were suitable to use, and then dropped them off at the Arms Park.

"We donated what we could and hopefully that will make a difference.

"We work predominantly in rugby and you always see how the rugby community comes together, it's in our nature."

Iguana Apparel was founded in 2014 by Spear and former Cardiff Blues back, and current Cardiff RFC star, Leon Andrews.

COO Rhys Blumberg was delighted with Iguana's kindness and contribution.

He added: "We're really grateful to Iguana Apparel for their donation. It will provide crucial protection for the key workers that are on-site at Cardiff Arms Park at the moment.

"It really sums up how the rugby community can come together during difficult times, and it's a really selfless act from a local sporting business."
