Pavilion will be host to many summer events
Vale of Glamorgan Council-run Penarth Pier Pavilion will host a range of events over the summer, including acclaimed outdoor theatre company Illyria at Kymin Gardens.
Located on Penarth seafront, the Pavilion is a vibrant venue which houses a cinema and stages live music, art exhibitions, workshops and more.
Throughout summer, the Pavilion has hosted and will continue to host several music and art events suitable for all ages.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Vale of Glamorgan Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and Welsh Language, said: "The Pavilion plays a key role in delivering art events and programmes to Vale residents and visitors.
"Since taking over operation of the Pavilion again a few years ago, the Council has worked hard to re-establish it as a community asset. It is a much-loved building, very much at the heart of the town.
"We want it to be used by a broad cross section of the local population and those from further afield.
"This summer, it will be the venue for a variety of different events that we hope will appeal to people with a range of interests."
The Pavilion is currently displaying a series of seascapes from the 'Sea of Change' exhibition. The artists featured are all based in the Vale and are passionate about the Heritage Coast and its environment.
July's featured artist is Christine Lamb and in August, Dawn Harries' work will be on display. The art exhibitions are free to view, and artwork is available to purchase upon request.
The Pavilion will also host award-winning outdoor Shakespeare theatre company Illyria at the Kymin Gardens, Penarth.
Karen Davies, Pavilion Manager, said: "It's always great to see the doors of our iconic venue open to the community.
"We're really excited to welcome Illyria back to the Pavilion this year.
"Their performances attract large numbers, and always receive glowing reviews.
"The performances on July 27 and August 25 welcomes all ages to enjoy an exciting theatrical performance with a beautiful back drop."
Illyria will be performing Pride and Prejudice on July 27 and Twelfth Night on August 25. Tickets are available to purchase here.
The Autumn / Winter events programme is currently being developed, starting with musical theatre actor "Peter Karrie – A Conversation with the 'Phantom'" on September 21.
More details will be available for upcoming events at the Pavilion on the Council's website.
The Pavilion is also available to book for private hire.
