Although the majority of people have spent their Easter weekend in lockdown, South Wales Police noted a number of breaches around Penarth's coastline this Saturday.

They said: ''A number of Guideline Breach calls attended today by Penarth officers and PCSOs.

''Action was taken against a number of people who had travelled a considerable distance to enjoy the coastline and beaches.''

This was followed up today with a message from the Vale of Glamorgan Council who said: ''If you are walking or cycling in areas like Penarth Marina please bear in mind you are close to people's homes.

Remember:

• Keep local

• On foot: keep to the pavement

• On a bike: keep to the cycle path

• Keep moving

• Keep 2m apart

The advice comes after residents of the marina had reported an increase in footfall locally, many of whom they believed were not residents.

Penarth Nub News reported on this last week which can be viewed here.

The Vale Council and local police team have put up signs and messages to encourage residents to stay away from these areas and have closed off popular car parks.

Cllr Lis Burnett responded to the Marina issues on Twitter.

She said: ''It is being constantly assessed as is traffic (pedestrian and cars as well as cycling) around the Vale.

''There is an issue in the Marina with cyclists using pedestrian areas and council officers and police are exploring options.

''Cycling is otherwise a good form of exercise.''
