FOLLOWING the devastating fire at Penarth Athletic Club earlier this month the mini and junior sections of Penarth Rugby Club were left without a venue for their Christmas parties.
Coaches and parents were worried that the children would miss out on these annual festive treats but thanks to the kindness and generosity of local businesses, every child got to celebrate with their teammates.
The support from Cogan Coronation Club, the Principality Stadium, Sid's Restaurant and Bar, Vindico Arena, Coffi Co and Penarth Pier Pavilion gave the young rugby players memories that they will never forget.
From teenagers enjoying a private screening of Home Alone on the pier to children meeting Father Christmas, the smiles on the young players' faces are a result of the compassion and support from the local organisations who reached out to offer help, showing what true community spirit looks like.
"Although they've still had rugby training and matches, we're still reeling from the loss of the club as a multigenerational social hub so having these Christmas parties was important to show that being part of the club is about friendships as well as sport.

The Penarth rugby community will come together again for the annual Boxing Day Derby with Old Penarthians RFC v Penarth RFC at Cwrt-y-Vil, kick off 11.30am, 26 December 2025.
This year's match carries extra significance following recent events, with the Old Pens donating all proceeds from the post-march raffle to Penarth Athletic Club to support the ongoing restoration work.
