Any keen walker or rambler will be familiar with the story of Christian Lewis, AKA 'Chris Walks the UK' on Facebook.

In 2017, Chris decided to walk the entire coast path of the UK, after hitting rock bottom in his personal life and feeling he had nowhere else to turn.

He gave himself a few days to rustle up a tent and walking boots, then left for good with just £10 in his pocket and two days' worth of food. When Chris set off from Llangennith beach on the Gower Peninsula, little did he know at the time just how long it would take to cross the finish line - and that the encounters lying ahead would turn his life around.

Chris has navigated the West Coast, Northern Ireland, the hard-rock cliffs of Scotland and the perimeters of the Scottish Islands. When the Covid pandemic hit he was on an uninhabited island called Hildasay, with beloved dog Jet - he stayed on Hildasay for three months. It was there, the most barren his route had become, that he found within himself the pride and respect he needed - and his journey became all the more remarkable. Happiness and hope were just around the corner...

Six years later, Chris has finally completed his groundbreaking walk, returning to Llangennith beach on Saturday 29 July. To celebrate his triumphant return to Wales, Chris will be visiting local bookshops to sign copies of his book Finding Hildasay, including Griffin Books.

Join the award-winning independent bookshop on Sunday 6 August, 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm, and get a personally signed copy of the book, plus a chance to meet Chris. This signing is ticketed due to time constraints and pre-booking is recommended.
