Brød Bakery has lifted spirits in Penarth town today by giving away 100 free Snegls (Danish Pastries) for local residents.

Those that were lucky enough to grab them before they were gone had a tasty treat as they walked by the otherwise closed store.

The bakery was forced to close due to the limitations placed on businesses during the coronavirus lockdown.

Each bag, containing 2 famous Kanel Snegls, were given away with a message of ''a little lockdown love from Brod''

They are one of the most popular pastries on offer.

Residents have missed their sweet treats from the local eatery.

One responded on Facebook to say: ''I've missed these and missed Brod.''

Brød said: ''They are all gone now... 100 Snegls gone in 1 hour.''

Becky, one of their bakers, is also providing recipes and instructions on how to bake their beautiful products from home. You can find her tutorials on Instagram.

They have also worked with Waterloo Tea to help bake bread for NHS Wales staff at the University Hospital of Wales.

We look forward to getting a tasty Danish treat when they are back in business!
