A Penarth bookshop will welcome BBC Radio 4 presenter Justin Webb on May 31 to promote his new memoir.

The team at Griffin Books will host an event at All Saints Church on Victoria Square to showcase Mr Webb's new book, The Gift of a Radio.

The book details Mr Webb's childhood including his mother's undiagnosed psychological problems and his stepfather's untreated ones which made home life difficult.

Mr Webb also outlines "gun-wielding schoolmasters" and sub-standard living conditions at the boarding school he went to in 1970s Britain.

Elin Davies, the events and communications lead at Griffin Books, told Penarth Nub News: "We're delighted to be welcoming Justin Webb to Penarth. We're all big fans of him in the shop and always have BBC Radio 4 playing in the background. It's sure to be a fascinating evening."

The event will start at 19:00.

Tickets start from £7.50 and can be purchased here or through Griffin Books directly on 02920 706455 and [email protected]

Griffin Books has announced the return of the Penarth Literary Festival this summer, which will run from June 18-26 with a special focus on the Welsh language.
