Armed Police Respond to Incident on Redlands Road Penarth

Reports and footage of armed police at Redlands Road corner shop have been sent in to Nub News.

UPDATE (21:30)

The road reopens and police leave the scene. An armed arrest at Llandough trading estate and footage of a house raid at Cosmeston Drive shortly after the incident are circulating locally. Neither of these incidents have been officially connected with the Redlands Road shooting.

UPDATE (17:33)

Two males have been arrested (16 and 20 years old) and no serious injuries have occurred at a Redlands Road Firearm Incident. Find out more here

UPDATE from South Wales Police -

A spokesperson said: ''Shortly before 2.00 pm today police in Penarth were called following reports of a firearm being discharged in the Redlands Road area.

"Two males have been taken into custody. A number of scenes have been preserved.

"Armed police officers have been deployed as a precaution. Investigations continue.

"Anyone with any information or video footage of this incident is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote incident 675 of 13th August."

The road is now be closed with over five police cars present and armed police on the scene.

Redlands Road has been closed in both directions from the Cefn Mably, near to where the incident took place, and there is slow traffic because of the police incident.

Nub News has contacted the police for more information.

A local resident said they heard something that sounded like gunshots outside their house near to where the incident is taking place.
