Yesterday evening Penarth Coastguard attended yet another lockdown rescue from Sully Island after two people were stranded in the latter part of the day.

On the 27th of May at 7:48 pm Penarth Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to two people cutoff by tide.

Barry Dock RNLI transfered the casualties to mainland all safe and well, safety advice given.

They said: "Please check the traffic light electronic tidal Informational board before you attempt to cross the causeway to Sully Island."

Vale Council Enforcement have said: "Great work by our colleagues. However, they shouldn't have their lives put at risk by those who ignore the warning signs on the approach to Sully Island.

"The signs are clear and are there for a good reason."

Barry Dock RNLI said: "Barry Dock inshore lifeboat launched yesterday (27th May) just before 8pm.

"HM coastguard requested the RNLI lifeboat to launch to 2 people who had been cut off by the tide on Sully island.

"The danger of people trying to self rescue and possibly drowning as a result of this is the reason the RNLI volunteers respond to people being cut off on Sully Island.

"Please stick to the Welsh government guidelines to protect yourselves and protect the volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews.

"If you are in danger or you see anybody in danger dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."

This was not the end of the coastguards evening as shortly after they were called to an incident searching to search for a high risk missing person.

They assisted South Wales Police a 20:12. The teams searched all around the local area. They were stood down and returned to station after the incident was resolved by South Wales Police Cardiff.
