On Sunday 16 July Alan Thorne will lead a Penath Town Walk, starting at 2pm from Cogan school

This year's town walk organised by penarth Civic Society will discover the history and buildings of one of the oldest parts of the town, Cogan.

Alan will speak about the farm, brickworks, ancient Cogan Pill and the characters of the area. We will learn about the docks, the subway under the river Ely and about the harsh deprivations that many people endured.

Society member david Noble said: "He has promised to dispel several Cogan myths and to tell us tales of pirates, smugglers and mystery pubs.

"Alan's walks are always interesting and colourful, we look forward to seeing you."

Free to members, £3 for non members.
