Local Penarth resident Jason Korinek has set up a community support network, made up of specialists and experts, for residents to access assistance who are either extremely vulnerable or are at increased risk of catching COVID-19.

Registered members can speak to a Mental Health Advisor, Home Fitness Trainer, a Pharmacist or a Nurse. They can also access help when they are having issues with Broadband, TV, Heating, Plumbing or something Electrical.

Jason Korinek told Nub News what CV Care was all about.

He said: ''We want to let people know that the service is there and for them to please register because the volunteers are available and want to give their time and help.

''We know that there are vulnerable people who are at home and are worried and concerned but don't know who to talk too. Our service is very different to what is out there at the moment.

''We have experts on hand to give vulnerable people advice. It is slightly different to the amazing work that the community groups are currently doing, ours is more about being there to talk and giving people a space to share their issues with professionals.''

We asked Mr Korinek where this all started.

He said: ''My business went into lockdown and I wanted to do something to help the community.

''Basically, I run a national window cleaning company. We look after window cleaning for restaurant and retail chains across the UK. We employee over 300 window cleaners. Obviously, with everything going on this has stopped.

''I have spent the last couple of weeks shutting everything down. Then, at the end of last week I decided that I wanted to do something. I've wanted to do some more charity work ever since I took part in the one million metre row for Haiti earthquake relief in 2010.

''I wanted to do something of some significance. When this all came about I thought this is the right time. Whilst this is not a fundraising scheme, I wanted to use my network of contacts who would be willing to act as volunteers for this project.

''The service is for those that can't leave home. They can register on the website, log in and they will receive direct mobile telephone numbers for a wide range of volunteers (nurse, pharmacist, emotional consultant, mental health expert.

''These people are there and are willing to give their time, to listen and help in whatever way they can. They are all local and most people will have heard of them in and around Penarth.

The service is only available to 'Extremely Vulnerable People' and People at increased risk from coronavirus including:

• If you are 70 or older
• Are pregnant and have a serious heart condition
• Have had an organ transplant
• Are having certain types of cancer treatment
• Have blood or bone marrow cancer, such as leukaemia
• Have a severe lung condition, such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma
• Have a condition or are taking medicine that makes them much more likely to get infections

• Or, you have a condition that may increase your risk of getting coronavirus.
