Morel Court staff have won a big victory against the coronavirus outbreak after they announced that all of their staff and residents would be receiving testing today in line with the new Welsh Government announcement.

Last week the team started a petition asking the Welsh Government to ensure that care home staff and residents in Wales would receive testing regularly.

This weekend they received the news that they will have the first round of this testing.

Morel Court said today: ''A quick update on our current situation.

''We can happily say we still have no suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the home at this time.

''We have had fantastic news [today], all of our residents and staff will be tested today at Morel Court.

''We will keep everyone updated as much as possible and we will be contacting families as soon as we get the results. We appreciate your continued support during this difficult time.

''Stay safe.''

The Welsh Government had only been testing care homes where an outbreak had been identified but over the weekend they assured that this would be rolled out to all homes, residents and staff.
