The funeral of the well-loved biker and postman, Alan Jones, took place today with a procession of motorcycles and postal vans following his hearse from Penarth to the funeral site in Barry.

Mr Jones tragically died in a fatal motorcycle accident in Barry last month.

Tributes poured out on social media from local residents remembering his chatty and cheerful nature.

Police were in attendance of the procession today and everyone maintained the social distancing regulations whilst showing their respects.

Residents lined the streets as the snake of bikes, cars and vans made their way to the funeral site.

The video and images above were captured as the procession made its way along Sully's Lavernock Road.

Bikers and Posties met in the car park of the old Schooner Harvester (now EGO) on Lavernock Road Penarth before heading off at 2:30 pm.

All riders that escorted the hearse to the crematorium were then asked to leave the grounds due to restrictions currently placed on funeral attendance.

His family have said: "Alan was a husband, father and devoted grandfather and was well known as a postman in the local area.

''The family are devastated by his sudden, tragic passing and this will leave a massive void in all of our lives."
