On a sunny early evening on 6 May, Friends of Victoria Square held their Annual General Meeting in the open air on Victoria Square. Numbers were restricted to a socially distanced 30 volunteers due to current COVID restrictions.

After official AGM business, the remaining time was spent looking at and discussing various parts of the project that are currently being worked on by volunteers, and those elements of it that will be implemented in the very near future.

Areas visited included the new trees to be planted, the start of the main stumpery area, the plans for the community garden, the work so far completed on the bog garden, and the wildflower areas.

Discussions were also held on future developments, including, plans for drainage in the autumn, the installation of wildlife cameras once the project was completed, and the various tree works completed and further work to be done by volunteers.

Chair Haydn Mayo thanked all volunteers for their valuable contribution to the project. Volunteer sessions have been held for the past five weekends, attracting many volunteers and many others who have shown interest. General membership numbers have been increasing as the project becomes more visible.
