The first 'Friends of Seel Park' fundraiser was a huge success.
The Friends was formed to ensure the play area in Seel Park is brought up to standard.
Over the last few years the site has been neglected, with the play equipment having notably deteriorated.
Local residents and community councillors have now banded together to form the ‘Friends’, with the simple aim being to improve facilities at Seel Park.
Around 100 people attended the quiz which the Friends of Seel Park hosted as its first major event.
Led by Debbie Evans, the small hard working team of organisers were thrilled by the level of support on the night which saw a staggering £840 raised.
Community Councillor Chris Franks who spoke at the start of the quiz explained some of the background to the evening, which included a meeting of up to 30 residents with the Vale Councillor responsible for investing in play areas.
He said, "Thanks to the determination of Debbie and the team we already have attracted a £500 grant from Post Code Lottery and another £500 from Dwr Cymru/ Welsh Water.
"The Vale Council allowed us to repaint the park railings and supplied the paint. Also we ensured that the Vale cut back brambles."
We acknowledge the generous support from Brynawel, Bank of Flowers, Royal Indian, Cardiff FC, Wenvoe Gardens Centre and others and thank the Rugby Club for their support.
