Chartered building surveyor job based in Cardiff working on commercial property for public sector clients.

Your new organisation My client has developed a new surveying team in the heart of Cardiff's city centre. An enthusiastic manager from the Bristol office has been tasked to develop a strong new team to work on the further educational facilities' property portfolio throughout South Wales. I am recruiting for a leading property consultancy firm, providing expert advice and services to clients across the UK. My client specialises in the education sector, delivering high-quality projects for universities, colleges, schools and student housing providers.Your new role

  • Managing building surveying commissions, including surveys, dilapidations, contract administration, project management and technical due diligence.
  • Managing the client relationship on a project by project basis with a focus on Net Zero schemes.
  • Contract management, including JCT & NEC.
  • Providing professional advice on property condition, defects, maintenance and repair strategies, statutory compliance and sustainability issues.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Leading and mentoring junior staff and supporting their professional development.
  • Contributing to business development and marketing activities as the organisation is looking to grow their presence in South Wales.
What you'll need to be successful
  • A degree in building surveying or construction management.
  • A chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
  • A minimum of five years of post-qualification experience in building surveying, preferably in the education sector.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex maintenance projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across South Wales.
