The historical footbridge at Cogan train station has reached completion and Network Rail have released images of the renovations.

Cogan's Grade II listed bridge has been undergoing work for the past year.

In a statement on Twitter Network Rail said: ''The Grade II listed footbridge at Cogan Station (Vale Line) has been renewed. The work includes strengthening work of the footbridge and sympathetic upgrade work, including the addition of LED handrail lighting.

''The colour scheme of the footbridge was also decided upon with conservation professionals to have a fitting 'nod' to the colours of the historic Barry Railway Company.''

Cogan Railway Station opened on the Barry Railway Line in 1888.

The ornate cast iron platform footbridge was produced by George Smith & Co of the Sun Foundry, Glasgow. This foundry operated from 1859-1899.
