A Sully woman has launched an online campaign to retrieve photos of her late mother after the car they were in was stolen.

The white Ford Focus was taken in the early hours of Sunday (21 February) morning, the night after a spate of video-recorded attempts in the area.

Alex Denton had placed a box of "precious photos" in the car in order to have them scanned the following day.

The box contained photographs of Alex's mum, who recently passed away, of her grandparents and of other relations taken in Italy during World War Two.

The car was found abandoned in Rolls St, Riverside, Cardiff, but the photographs were not inside.

Other missing items include a record player and a children's car seat. Alex believes these items and the photographs were "were possibly thrown out of the vehicle when the thieves changed the wheel which they put in the boot."

The car was reportedly spotted in Barry at around 3am.

"I'm not bothered about anything else but these pictures are all I have left," Alex told Nub News.

"They were in the boot as I was taking them to my brother who was putting them all on a memory stick for all the family to enjoy.

"There were 7 generations captured in these photos. I'm devastated and would be so grateful if someone found them."

On 19 February, a video surfaced of a man wearing a red face covering seeming to check drives for unlocked cars on Cog Road.

An appeal post by Sully Village Group has now been shared over 300 times.
