It was a flurry of activity for the Penarth coastguard team and the RNLI, as Friday's callouts schedule filled up.

The first incident was recorded at 17:48 after an abandoned vessel was reported on fire near the breakwater at Cardiff Barrage.

The Penarth Coastguard team assisted South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to deal with the situation.

The derelict vessel was on the beach and was no danger to property or other vessels, Vale of Glamorgan Council was notified for removal.

During this incident, the team were then diverted to cut-offs in the St Mary's Well Bay area.

The second incident of the night involved two persons and a dog who were cut off by the tides.

The team worked alongside Penarth RNLI's Lifeboat Station who located and extracted the casualties to Lavernock Point where they were met by the coastguard team and South Wales Police.

All were safe and well and the lifeboat returned to its station at 7 pm.

The final Friday callout took place after a call was made regarding a person missing off a yacht moored in Mermaid Quay.

A full search was conducted by Penarth and Barry Coastguards, South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service with water and land assets.

Luckily, the person was found safe and well at another location.

The team made a statement on Facebook thanking Cardiff Bay security for their assistance during the search.

They also said: ''A huge thank you to Nando's Cardiff Bay Nando's who supplied the Team with food and soft drinks and Las Iguanas Cardiff for the Coffee's very much appreciated being our 3rd call out of the night, Thank you.''
