Tributes Pour in for Penarth Blogger Who Lost Battle to Bowel Cancer

Over the weekend, Nub learned the sad news that Penarthian and well-known blogger, Patrick Wymer, had lost his battle with stage-four Bowel Cancer at 55 years old.
Tributes poured in on social media to remember the inspirational local figure and the lives that he touched with his blog that detailed his life from the year of his diagnosis in 2017.
Sarah Wymer, Patrick's wife, addressed his Twitter followers in a message yesterday morning. She said: ''This is Sarah, Patrick's wife: Patrick died last night at Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth.
''He declined rapidly this week and died peacefully with his family at his side. Thank you for the support you have shown Patrick and our family.''
Throughout the time that he was battling with his condition, Patrick Wymer was an activist. He campaigned with Bowel Cancer UK to help patients understand and therefore receive earlier diagnosis'.
His blog, 'Bowel Cancer Man', was read by thousands and detailed his journey with his illness hoping to help others experiencing the same thing and also raise awareness of the disease.
He also took part in many fundraising activities for Bowel cancer charities.
Bowel Cancer UK said: ''We're deeply saddened to hear of the loss of one of our amazing supporters Patrick Wymer. From his beautiful blog to his brilliant fundraising, he has done so much to raise awareness and make a difference. Our thoughts are with his family.''

What is bowel cancer?
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and the second biggest cancer killer. According to Bowel Cancer UK, almost 42,000 people are diagnosed with it every year.
